Christmassing

This year we decided to start a tradition of doing something small to celebrate Christmas each day, beginning 12 days before Christmas. Naturally, we called it “The 12 Days of Christmas”. (This was inspired by some friends who did something similar last year). Our 12 Days included making and decorating Christmas cookies, driving around town looking at Christmas lights, the annual Benson Hotel Breakfast with the Macy family, putting up and decorating our tree, watching a Christmas movie (we went with It’s a Wonderful Life), Christmas shopping, spending an evening with Erin’s parents and carrying on Hatch-family traditions, attending the Christmas Eve service at our church, and a few other activities. It was a fun way to extend the Christmas celebrating in a more intentional way. And, it was a fun way to spend time with friends and family, as a good number of the activities involved others.

Keith and Laura were game for hot chocolate/tea and sugar cookie decorating.

Elaborate gingerbread village at the Benson. This year it was Venice.

Breakfast at the Benson is a Macy family tradition that we think is probably about 25+ years old!

Our gift to Erin's parents was a day at Mt. Hood. They opened the snow gear they would use up on our day of snow shoeing.

Christmas Day was also a great time of being together with family and celebrating Christ’s birth. This year we merged Macy and Hatch families together and still managed to have a low-key, relaxing holiday thanks to family who are flexible, welcoming, and fun to be around!
